Dick Goddard's Law Passed!
I love animals and always have since I was a little girl. I am a firm believer that we need to stand up for animals and provide for them a voice they need. Too many animals suffer everyday from neglect and abuse and I support Dick Goddard on his petition to make it a more punishable crime to abuse an animal. Currently under Ohio law, most animal abuse cases are first-degree misdemeanors punishable with little or no jail time. If H.B. 274 passes, Dick Goddard’s Law will bring Ohio‘s animal cruelty law in line with most other states by making it a fifth-degree felony to torture, injure or kill a companion animal or deprive it of water, food or shelter. Those convicted of animal cruelty could receive six months to a year in jail. Only companion animals will be covered by the proposed bill; it does not include livestock or wild animals. H.B. 274 refers to companion animals as "any animal that is kept inside a residential dwelling and any dog or cat regardless of where it is kept, including a pet store.” Thanks for reading and supporting the animals!!! -Diana von Loewe - owner of Ladybug Ranch LLC.
